(I didn't see the information "below" but my Internet is being temperamental, or maybe it's the computer. However, this is exactly what the email said. I did not substitute anything for my first name because it wasn't there.
 
I just looked back at the phone log on my iPhone and I see about 90 calls from various numbers which I attribute to the spam callers, ranging from the final death benefit, the Medicare supplements, extended car warranties, Amazon purchases, erectile dysfunction aids, Spectrum or AT&T discounts and the golden one, regarding my Social Security number and the Toyota Corolla I rented which was found along the south border of Texas.

Have you ever been to Texas? Of course - I used to work at the Perdue Chicken factory operation in El Paso, about 5 years as a chicken choker. Didn't pay much and no retirement.


The scam/spam callers are doing some data mining, for the other day when talking with the Spectrum "agent" about the discount program, using one of my fake names and a fake address, they called me a liar, and he gave me my correct and an address where I had lived up until a few months ago.

I should add that those 90 or so calls on the cell phone are not all placed to the cell phone number, but also include calls placed to my Vonage VoIP line and the Vonage virtual number, both which also ring my cell phone via Vonage's Simulring service.

Out of sheer interest and available time, I've called back to the Caller ID listed number and the vast majority of those numbers are either out of service numbers, usually reaching a recording of that nature. Some, for whatever reason, may already be in the T-Mobile number database and won't even go anywhere.

A small fraction of the calls actually reach real persons, occasionally a business, sometimes facsimile machine numbers. Occasionally, the number actually is inward number to the scam or sales pitch operation. Reaching a real person becomes a surprise, for then I have to explain why I reached them. I've actually chatted with a person or two who has done the same thing, calling the scammers back.
 
We've been getting lots of bogus emails lately. They all begin by saying that they've been trying to reach us and go on to say that we've won X number of dollars.
They've been trying to reach us? That's odd. They didn't seem to have any problem sending this email to us.
Are people really stupid enough to fall for this?

My assumption is that if such emails continue to circulate, they somehow get payback to make it worthwhile.
 
An email scam to watch out for: Your password to (email account) has expired, please enter your password. Received the same claiming to be my bank also. When you click on it, they ask for account number, ATM pin etc.

If you have even the slightest suspicion, DON'T RESPOND!
