OK, so when you tune to WEEI for Red Sox baseball you hear the "Mike" announcer guy saying, "There's a new player on the roster. 93.7 Mike FM. Mike has more hits than anyone in the lineup." A "Mike" promo on WRKO says "Mike has all the songs you'd like to download...if you actually had time ...to...download."
Now I'm hearing promos on WMKK, Mike 93.7, saying "when you want the latest news and a chance to talk about it tune to AM 680, WRKO. We play everything.
They SAY everything." OK, not surprising--yet another example of a sister
station promoting the other sister station. Curiously though I hear some
"slams" of WEEI on WRKO; one recorded promo aired during Howie's show
says "no batting averages here", etc., and another had "callers" to a generic
sports station saying things like "I love the Celtics"; "I wanna talk
about Pedro" and so on. "This is a no jock-sniffer zone!," says the annnoucer.
Sure, they could be poking fun at WWZN but in a way
they might be kinda slamming their own sister station a bit? Oh well.
