Movies! And Catchy Comedy off WWOO?

WBZ may have received viewer comments that one of their subchannels (4.5) is broken and removed it.

WSBK 38.5 has removed the incorrect program guide for Movies! and restored the StartTV guide. That in itself is odd, given that StartTV is also on WBZ 4.2 and duplicating it on 38.5 was assumed to be temporary.

Meanwhile back at the WWOO / WVCC ranch - WVCC has now been completely off the air for about a month.

Right, but the average viewer may not pay attention to what program is on a particular channel, but if one is blank, they will assume they are missing something they should be receiving.

Yeah - I suspect that may be the case, despite what Catchy told me. Why would they pull the “Coming Soon” message off the site, as well as WBZ pulling back on the signal on 4.5.

There has been some speculation on the other forum from a couple of folks in the business that this problem may be due to ongoing parts supply issues. Weigel, which owns Catchy Comedy and 50% of Movies! (with Fox Television Stations) apparently uses their own particular flavor of multichannel remote control of satellite receivers.

I won’t hold my breath then! Besides I don’t look good in blue.
I don't expect much either, except more odd semi-related related details.

For example, WVCC has been back on for about 2 weeks with some of their digital data missing, notably their ch 49 TSID. On many TV's, WVCC now displays as it's real RF ch 6, interfering with the display of WLNE, Providence's virtual ch 6.1, causing it to oddly display as it's real RF ch 24.1.

You can't make this stuff up.

I'm not getting anything from WVCC here in Somerville, and it used to come in well here before it went off a couple of months ago.

Occasionally my set does scan WLNE onto RF 24 instead of virtual 6, but when that happens I still get nothing scanned in on virtual 6.

Now my set is getting WVCC on 6.1! And, if I click it up again I can still get WLNE.

Part of their signal is missing - the TSID. It does not seem to be the same exact effect as when they had troubles previously.
WVCC had gone off the air during a particularly nasty thunderstorm, which may have been only coincidence.

The encoder used by WLNE has a tendency to display their real RF channel occasionally for some reason.

I've also seen WLNE and subchannels scan onto RF 24 instead of virtual 6 at times. I also get that on WCEA-LD Boston a lot. Sometimes it and its subchannels scan onto its RF channel 36 instead of its virtual channel 26.

WVCC appears to have fixed their TSID and is now scanning in on virtual 49, and has added 49.2, Antenna TV, with NewsNet still on 49.1. The same two channels airing on WWOO virtual Ch. 17 but in reverse order.

In theory they could now attempt to get either or both Catchy Comedy and Movies!, if the deals with WBZ and WSBK have fallen thru.

WVCC is now running a crawl, that as of Wednesday, AntennaTV and NewsNet will only be seen there, since WWOO will be beginning their experimental 5G-only broadcasting.
