WEZW-FM Sold to EMF

thats good news, I was wondering if Gary was going to blow the oldies format up altogether, not many WMIDs around nowadays, he did update the music, the 50s and early 60s are almost gone :(, a few years back they simulcasted on W281BH-104.1 for a short time, maybe they will return.

There are non-Christian Conservatives. There are liberals who listen to religious programming.

One should be focused on actual teachings. The other is focused on a interpretation of religious teachings to fit how they want government to act.
Unfortunately some want to use their religion as a weapon against others which is ironic. Being raised Catholic sadly I see it a lot.

Cant believe they put a translator on 93.1 in Georgetown the WEZW is transmitter is 1 mile west of Wildwood . Rehoboth Beach is 20 miles to the south. Than Again WGMD is almost unlistenable in Cape May County due to a translator

You think that's bad, at least you can understand what their saying, when I tune up and down the dial, in my neck of the woods, I think I'm in downtown Mexico City Lmao....

Pretty soon the whole FM radio dial nationwide is going to sound like rural Georgia.
In terms of the news/talk stations, they already mostly do, especially the ultra-far right WJFP 740. My only gripe with the K-Love stations is just that the christian "rock" music is downright unlistenable. As Hank Hill once said, "you're not making Christianity better, you're making rock music worse."

Actually, if you listen to the Philadelphia Spanish FMs, you'd be closer to being in "downtown San Juan, Puerto Rico" than Mexico City. The Philadelphia area Hispanic population is mostly Puerto Rican (now in the third generation) and Dominican.

EMF pays fair market value for their acquisitions. They have a formula valuing each station based on the amount of people in their protected contour. Other considerations could affect the purchase price such as repairs that need to be made at the tower site or to equipment, but there is no gun pointed at someone's head forcing them to sell to EMF. In most cases, they or one of the other growing Christian networks are the only buyers who come forward.

There is a very fair argument to be made that most station sellers and brokers do not go out of their way to find buyers that would be interested in a radio station or are unaware that a station is for sale. But that's not EMF's fault.

In the case of WEZW, Equity was grandfathered over the ownership cap and if they were to sell their whole cluster, three of their Cape May County signals would have to be sold separate. They sold 105.5 a couple years ago and now have pending deals for 102.3 and 93.1. Their remaining six stations could now be sold as-is.
Well said 100 percent!

And EMF and several of the other Christian broadcasters, which are not ratings dependent for ad sales, don't look at "markets" but just "people covered".

That means that what a commercial situation would call a station a "rimshot" EMF simply looks at the population in the signal area. If they need several signals to cover a population center from different angles, they buy several suburban or more rural signals and the combined coverage get both the metro area and a lot of more sparsely populated zones a station home to the center of that particular "market" would not deliver.

It's as if they had a blank map of the US and try to simply put together pieces that cover the whole thing. No worry about "radio dollars or ratings or all the things that iHeart and friends have to keep, always, top of mind.

You misspelled 'convert'.
But they are not trying to convert anyone. They are not a preaching & teaching station group, they are entertainment for Christians who want "safe and sane" music that reflects their values.

Either with an increase with radio stations selling to others or myself paying attention more closely, how likely is it for a radio "legend" ( legit or in their own mind ) to buy an FM station as a hobby;

feel free to move this to the appropriate forum. I just posted here as I always wanted a station in AC, nj !!!!
