WW1's SAM Satellite format on WKHW

Another "SAM" In Idaho

100000watts.com reports that KWYS/102.9 Island Park, Idaho is now an affiliate of the new SAM format.

A quick check on Radio-Locator.com shows the class C station a rock throw away from Yellowstone National Park. It also shows the station as a country station, at least one format away from the AAA format 100k says it's changed from.

Thanks for the update. Interesting on the website to read this: "WHO ATE THE BRaT?.... SAM DID!" The station was formerly AC "Brat 107.3", which is an interesting name for a station. So apparently SAM is a cannibal.<P ID="signature">______________

I don't expect any Chicago suburban stations to pickup the Sam format from WW1. They never pickup the fad formats. They only pickup the formats that work in all markets such as Hot Country, Mainstream country, Hot AC (might go under different names), AC, Classic Rock, and oldies (though no suburban station tried this format). So Chicago will not likely see Sam.

But in addition to the new Jack FM which replaced WJMK/104.3, Chicagoland already HAS a suburban Variety Hits station in "Nine FM". Someone picking up WW1's Sam format would be the third operator.

Chicago suburban stations have never picked up satellite fad formats (that operate satellite most or all day). They have always chosen formats that will never go away anytime soon. Nine FM is operated from Chicago's south side studios rather than from a satellite service. So as long as Nine FM is making money, ratings don't matter to that stations since Newsweb (parent company of Nine-FM) doesn't subscribe to Arbitron and they're a privately held company. So we'll never know how much money the station is billing.
