Heard that WDEQ 91.7 FM in DeGraff(southwest of Bellefontaine) is now being operated by Gene Kirby's Gray Fox Broadcasting. Riverside High School still owns the station but is leasing it to Kirby. Recently came back on the air this past Tuesday with reduced power while the main transmitter awaits repairs (from Wikipedia) It now airs Big Band which WRPO formerly aired until earlier this year. He also airs a Big Band show on Ultimate Oldies WSWO-LP along with operating WRPO at Indian Lake and his micropower WMHO in Marysville.

Keep up the superb work Gene!

I'm just a bit surprised nobody responded to this posting until now.

I've met Gene and his wife over at WRPO...great fellow who loves to talk about his days at the old WRFD-FM before it became WNCI...if it wasn't for Gene's efforts to rescue WDEQ,it would have fallen into oblivion..it was off the air for several weeks...he's one of the last of the "old school" DJs. Loves jazz and big band while his wife loves oldies....and especially Elvis. His efforts have become an inspiration for the local low power revolution to keep community-oriented radio alive.
