WQNA Springfield now off air indefinitely

The "freeform" student-run community station at Springfield's Capitol Area Career Center (near UIS), WQNA 88.3 Springfield, is now off the air for the forseeable future.

According to a post last night by one of the radio hosts' FB posts ("Sam N Danz at Dawn show"):

"Due to nonexistent funding, a broken transmitter, and a ransomware attack on the studio computer, WQNA is off the air for the foreseeable future.

If was fun while it lasted."

Could WQNA now be joining the original WCAZ and WAIK (plus apparently WOAM-1350) in becoming another Illinois radio station that has gone dark in at least the past year?

WQNA's possible demise seems to be a generational shifting away from traditional "push" type media like broadcast towards the "pull" models like streaming. The long time Colorado College student run KRCC in Colorado Springs moved from mostly student programmed to 90% NPR style news and info.

It's hard enough becoming a dinosaur without witnessing a fairly rapid deterioration in the various media that we've known for so long.
