Would a "Rhythmic AC" play these songs?

Collage-I'll be loving you-Another big CHR hit from 1995

Power 92 in Phoenix was actually playing this in 1993 (and, somewhere, I have a tape to prove it!) I think I remember hearing it on Open House Party in 1994. But interestingly, because (I think) the song was not played in NYC when it was new, it became a huge hit on KTU when they began playing it upon their return to the dial in February 1996.

Here are some songs that probably shouldn't be played more than once or twice a month (for the most part), but collectively, they would have that "oh wow" factor that might keep existing listeners tuned in, prevent burnout, attract new listeners.

(Some of these songs may have been bigger hits regionally than nationally, and sorry if any of these were already mentioned)

Also, anyone remember a group called Sound Factory- the song was everybody get on the Floor, and another song from them called Good time That was played on both WMGI Terre Haute, and even WDJX Louisville played it, but I never heard this song on any other stations, not even the dance stations. I bet some of you would reognize them from mixshows if you heard them.

The song I remember best from Sound Factory is called "Understand this Groove". Power 92 Phoenix played this one in regular rotation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=607xxgj5AE0

I also found "Good Time" and yes, I do remember it!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6M9S1hTa84

Anyone remember Joe Public-Live and Learn--Actually not dance either,, but yet another lost rhythmic gem we cant hear anymore.

Bell Biv Devoe-Poison and Do me..... Not Dance,,, but you never hear these anymore.

Rhythmic Oldies KAJM (Mega 104.3) has played Live and Learn. I'm pretty sure I've heard Poison on there as well, although that might get shifted over to classic hip-hop sister station The Beat (formerly Energy 92.7, for those unfamilar with the recent change), if it hasn't already happened. I'm not sure if I'm heard "Do Me" on the radio recently...it I did, it was probably on Mega.

I think the Phoenix Movin' (KMVA) plays Poison.

Rhythm Syndicate-P.a.s.s.i.o.n.-- Bet you all forgot that song, but I bet it rings a bell now.

Oh I remember this one :) I'm still waiting to hear it on the radio again!

Depeche Mode-Enjoy the silence-Big CHR hit in 1990 on CHR, some Dance stations, and even some ALT Rock stations.

That was the last song played on Energy 92.7 :'(

This is a really great list,,, all but only just a few of these should be in regular rotation on Rhythmic AC,, I also remember Understand this groove,, Im not sure if our Dance station at the time WMGI MIX FM Terre Haute played this in regular rotation, but all the sound factory songs had basically the same sound and music background, so I think people get these 3 songs mixed up,, but anyway, im gonna quote your list and tell you what I would and would not play, or may play maybe once a week, or on over nights..

(Some of these songs may have been bigger hits regionally than nationally, and sorry if any of these were already mentioned)

The song Girls Night Out was made by Tyler Collins. Talk about a lost hit. I think it came out in 1990.

Tyler Collins song was a good song. I also liked "I don't want to fall in love" by....well now I forgot her name.
I guess it was Jane Child. Glenn Medieros is my favorite out of all. "You think you know her"..... another good one.

If there was a station that played back in the day hits ALL like this, http://www.imeem.com/kdm7000/playli...e_day_replay_old_school_hits_more_music_play/ it would be great.

That has been my idea for the past 3 years. I dont htink that tese songs are getting attention and right now is the PERFECT time for a station to bring 'em back what with the dreary economy and job outlook. I think I just need to Syndicate a show like this to whoever will play it ....AAAHHHH I miss the days when I played this stuff in Florida...man that was great and I was on top.
Excellent tunes!!!!

Boy Krazy...what a great song...I think ace of base's most popular song was "The Sign" not Don't Turn Around.....Real McCoy Another Night and Runaway were alot bigger than Come and Get Your Love
I agree with Jellyhead Crush and Fun Factory Close to You...depends on thed market..They were huge here in Philly at Q102

This seems more like a Rhythmic "Oldies" thread. It also seems like many Rhythmic AC's are defined by what oldies they play or don't play. Shouldn't there be more NEW music on a Rhythmic AC, as there is on a Hot AC? I would like to see that...along with Rhythmic AC charts in R&R, Billboard, etc.

I remember posting the Glenn Medieros video from YouTube in a MySpace bulletin last Memorial Day (2008) for a "back in the day, replay" weekend I was doing on MySpace. The boy Krazy and Jennifer Paige stuff I think caught most people's attention, although I have no direct proof. I just know I got comments around the time I posted those..

I don't even remember the day when UB40, Ace of Base, Fine Young Canables, and all of them shifted from being top 40 to no longer being top 40. I do remember it fading out, then just hearing it once in a while, then there were the back in the day / party music weekends on stations for holidays where some of this stuff would resurface and pop up, then I remember sitting one day and thinking "when was the change official?" I know there has to be a last day recorded for when these artists were played on most top 40 stations that have managed to maintain their format from then til now. (I guess "til" is a word because I'm on firefox and spell check did not hassle me on it! Looks like "firefox" isn't a word though...)

A song that would probably wow a few people is "deliverance" by Bubba Sparxxx and in a few years, "rehab" by Rihanna... but only a few. Songs that should NOT be brought back? "rollin with mvp" by Stagga Lee and in a few years, some of Lil Wayne's material. I'd probably bring back "it's all about me" by Dance Hall Divas before some of Lil Wayne's stuff. I wonder what happened with "the macarena" that caused it to never really become an old school hit, even though it's probably one of the most remembered songs? And I wonder if Britney Spears will fade out the same way Madonna did when that time comes around? I am not looking forward to those days of getting older.. but I might as well face it, especially with the type of songs I'm seeing and recognizing in my life as PAST HITS, that I GREW UP with. That's usually the first sign of things to come...

I had to chime in on justthenumbers great list of rhythmic songs, and whether or not a few songs would make it on a rhythmic AC station:

Darude - "Sandstorm" and Eiffel 65 - "Blue" : Both have familiarity in sports arenas/stadiums through PA breaks. I say include them.

Haddaway - "What Is Love?": Has its own well-known pop culture relevance. Of course you play it!

Janet Jackson's "Miss You Much" and "If": No brainers for two reasons-- 1) she was that damn big on her own, and 2) she's the most relevant member of the Jackson family currently alive. The MJ nostalgia now rubs off indirectly on her old work, and she doesn't even need that extra shine.

Pebbles "Mercedes Boy" or "Girlfriend": More familiar to contemporary R&B heads, but a lot of 80s/90s Michael and Janet got played on those stations. Do it.

Mariah Carey - "Someday": Sure, though I'd make "Sweet Fantasy" or "It's Like That" higher priorities.

SWV - "I'm So Into You" and "Right Here (Human Nature)": Pensacola/Mobile's new WYCL "107.3 The Groove" just played Bel Biv DeVoe's "Poison". The no-longer subtle emergence of New Jack Swing and Hip-Hop into the 1990s...too big to ignore.
