WJCU-FM the college station from John Carroll University is finally getting ready to increase its power from 850 watts to 2.5kW ERP this summer thanks to a succcessful fundraising marathon. This is one GREAT station which still originates locally airing an eclectic and diversified block programming mix..somthing missiing from college radio(WYSO Yellow Springs let go its volunteer jocks several years ago in favor of a complete NPR broadcast schedule...Boring!) Hats off to Joe Madigan its operations manager(and host of the WIXY 1260 tribute show "Retro Radio" on Tueday afternoons)for getting the job done. Watch for this kid...he's a great talent with a passion for 60s oldies..he could even help save oldies radio as we once knew it if given the opporitunity..he grabbed an audience and an oldies following when he interned at WULM Springfield...Dayton's oldies station in 2005.

Congratulations to you guys, from another freeform/eclectic station facing similar challenges (WUSB) to yours. Great to see true college radio still surviving! ;D
