No sense of Ted being on for longer than egotistically necessary.

stay tuned

Here's the All Access take:

BCA Sports XEPRS-A-XHBCE (THE MIGHTY XX SPORTS RADIO)/SAN DIEGO shuffles the lineup in anticipation for the PADRES' season, moving afternoon host and PADRES' play-by-play voice TED LEITNER to middays 1-3p and middayers DARREN SMITH and "PHILLY BILLY" WERNDL to LEITNER's afternoon slot for at least the pre-season.

Weekenders BRIAN WILSON and JOSH ROSENBERG will fill the Noon-1p slot, and evening host JOHN "THE COACH" KENTERA now has update anchor ERNIE MARTINEZ as a co-host. Remaining in place as before are morning hosts SCOTT KAPLAN and BILLY RAY SMITH and the PREMIERE-syndicated JIM ROME show for 9a-Noon.<P ID="signature">______________

THANK YOU JOHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I missed the All Access blurb.
Ted is on right now, and it is on at a time where I can listen to him.

That's all I was looking for.

I know the Padres are a huge part of XX. However this
"season-parting" is a bad programming tactic. It's hard
enough to develop core listeners, but when you start
moving the lineup around to fit a play-by-play announcers
schedule, or the baseball season package you are putting
all your eggs in one basket. Research has shown not all
Sports Radio P-1's are big on baseball play by play abyway,
so now from noon-1 you have scrubs doing a crucial hour.
Ted is better in mid days, I agree. But keep him there,
I know he's there for the endorsements, but demographically
he's not an afternoon drive sports talk host. Great baseball
& football play by play and community personality, just not the
guy for PM drive. Plus during baseball season he can't do
afternoons anyway. Poor John Kentera, ever do a 5 hour sports
talk show?. That is a frigging marathon. About the equivalent of
an 8 hour jock shift.

Yes, I agree. But what would be worse is for them not to make a change, and Padres throws everything out of whack. Here's its easier for them to leave Ted in Place, he can do his show and then the play by play as a piggy back. I think Ted's a big draw for the station, because You either love him or hate him. But it keeps them on the map. Otherwise, people will have to run around and search for their shows.

My point is, no matter what, the schedule would have been mixed around anyway, so it's better for them to take control ahead of time.
Just my 2 cents worth...
