What's coming up at FSR?

I heard a promo on Fox Sports Radio that the radio network is "taking sports radio to the extreme." What might this mean? I remember FSR running something similar months ago, and all it turned out to be was a lineup change.

maybe c.j. silas is making a comeback! lol!

They've been dumped in Omaha. And, well, that is saying something. A case study waiting to happen.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. FSR's decline almost looks purposeful, and totally reminds me of the movies "The Natural" and "Major League," where ownership intentionally puts the worst product possible on the field with hopes of finishing in last place. While Steve Czaban does his best Roy Hobbs imitation, it ain't enough to save this sinking ship.

At least FSR's promo department still has enthusiasm, though for what I have no idea.

I was in LA over the last few days and turned on 610 (Lancaster-the only station in SoCal that still carries Van Hurl) to see if Van Hurl was really still on the air. Yea, he's still on but I defnitely noticed something different- they all sounded like they knew their days were numbered and didn't care. Nothing was said of course, but remembering how the Van Hurl show was a few months ago (the last time I heard the show) compared to now, the air has definitely gone out of the balloon. It was almost as if they knew they were doing a radio show with no audience. Well, actually, they are, aren't they? :)<P ID="signature">______________

Bitterman Andrew is even more unlistenable now.

They do have an affiliate in Omaha I believe. I think it's 590??? I hear callers on JT & Sedano from Omaha talking about the college world series

Sorry, I should change that. They have dumped the entire Fox day sched which is then followed by KC Royals baseball. On off nights and weekends they switch to Fox. They used to bill themselves as Fox Sports Radio....now it is Big Sports 590. Either way, it is bad radio.

If this is what listeners and general non-programmers can see and hear, how can Fox Sports Radio even stay in business much longer? I don't care how many little crappy stations may carry the meaningless night and weekend filler stuff, you can't fool advertizers and big stations into thinking you are competitive with multi-time losers like Chris Myers as your biggest name. Didn't he already flop at FSR once before?

I'd point my guess to an "official" website. A lookup of "foxsportsradio.com" shows that FOX owns the domain name.

Not to mention Fox also lost their Akron/Cleveland affiliate, WTOU-AM 1350 in favor of Liberal Talk

...not that there's anything wrong with that!

I think it has something to do with programming. Let's face facts when you start losing affiliates left and right plus your affiliate in the second largest media market dosen't carry your morning show and your night time show something has to be up. Here in Tacoma Fox Sports Radio 850 runs the entire FSR line-up including the Morning Extravaganza and JT The Brick. Not to mention Clear Channel which owns 850 also owns another sports radio station in Seattle-KJR 950 AM. So i'm guessing people are starting to listen more to KJR and other radio stations in the area. But I do think a major shakeup is going to occur at Fox Sports Radio.

Fox Might own the Domain but Premire Radio Networks distrubts and Progams FSR

Fox Sports Radio Bashing

Guys,

Are you nuts? So FSR lost their Akron affiliate. Big deal!!! Since when is Akron the measuring of a radio network's success. Maybe you should mention that FSR just replaced ESPN in Miami and Memphis...sending ESPN to highly inferior frequencies. Or maybe you should mention that the two highest rated sports stations in the country: WEEI/Boston and KHTK/Sacramento just added FSR to their overnight lineup.

Have you heard former Cowboys star James Washington on the night show? Have you heard former Dolphin/Bear/Patriot/Jet Brian Cox on the afternoon show with Chris Myers? Its very compelling radio.

Washington is not good. Cox is very good. Myers, like VEW, is for the most part serviceable.
