What Do You Think Of Me Now?

In light of 954's post regarding the frivolous/trivial postings seen here on this board as of late, let me just take a moment to say one quick thing..........

I'm a guy, and I occasionally read Cosmopolitan.

There! I said! And yes, I feel like a great, big boulder has been lifted from my shoulders now that I have made that admission!! As a matter of fact, I'll go one step further and dare say that my spirit feels like it has been set free--like a beautiful white dove released from the captivity of its cage!
For me, this post/admission is truly a moment of exhilaration!!

Well, anyway........I just wanted to share that with all of you!

Have a great day, everyone! :)

As long as you don't shave your legs and call me "Sugar bear", that's cool......

I'll read crap like that as show-prep all the time, not as much now as when I did mornings on a Hot AC.

Know your audience...or your enemy, as the case may be.

PS. Nice Sugar Bear reference. **sings** "Can't get enough of that Sugar Crisp." Super Sugar Crisp was the BEST! Sugar Bear could surely whip the a$$ of that stupid frog Kellogg's used for Sugar Smacks.

Was that Bear a take off of Huggy Bear? I think it was!

Wasn't Huggy bear a character in a TV show or movie in the 70s?

I think Sugar Bear dates back to the 50s.

Huggy Bear was a character Starsky and Hutch, and I had no idea Sugar Bear went back that far.

Sometimes I look at the pictures in the grocery store line.

I wouldn't even turn down an opportunity to meet any of their models.
(Or their writers.)

Don't worry... your choice of reading material has little to do with your masculinity (or complete lack thereof). For example, Elijah Wood is very, very gay, yet he occasionally reads Sports Illustrated!

Well, first of all, I'm straight. And second, I like reading all of them Cosmo articles (of which there are many) about "the Big-O". ----It makes for interesting reading! :)

Also, I'm sure a lot of gay men read SI.....I mean, after all, there are gay men and women in professional sports, right? We all know that to be true. Anybody who doesn't think so is in serious denial!!

I was just having some fun with you guys....and judging by the number of responses....I exceeded my own expectations!

if you read it at the right time (when the other team notices) it might help.....go for it!!!!

Me who are comfortable with their masculinity and heterosexuality AND read COsmo are very sexy! Thanks for trying to figure us ladies out. Forget all of those book out on the market on how to understand women. Keep reading Cosmo, it's a great reference book/mag for the men.

Yes, Antonio Fargas was the original Huggy Bear. Snoop did a great job in the movie remake. He was the best part of the whole movie.

Also Sugar Bear was the bear on the box of Super Sugar Crisp which does go back to the 50's. Anyone who remembers Sugar Bear singing might also remember the guy who voiced Sugar Bear as sounding a little bit like Bing Crosby. It wasn't Bing but he had that crooner, wubba-wubba sound.

Not knowing when someone's being a smarta$$ = PRICELESS

I worked for a Hot AC and yes I read cosmo as show prep. Now that I'm no longer on air I don't currently read it though. It's common practice
______________

Huggy Boy, and who is Sugar Bear?

Sheldon Leonard?

The best thing about reading Cosmo is telling your friends you're gay.

I couldn't help but paraphase this trade show banner, although in a positive context...

snowboard.jpg

Yes, that was a real banner, used by K2 Sports, makers of Ride snowboards. Read more about it here.

> Well, first of all, I'm straight.

I'm "straight" too -- I'm just not heterosexual. In this world, there are plenty of gay-acting heterosexual people (I usually call it "q u e e r - acting", but this board "BLEEP"s out that word when typed normally!), just as there are plenty of straight-acting homosexual people. Unfortunately, the continuing integration of "gay" fashion trends into mainstream culture makes it more and more difficult for gay men and heterosexual women alike to find a partner; the guy who wears Abercrombie & Fitch, highlights his hair, and listens to the Backstreet Boys might be 100% hetero, while the guy next to him who drives a Ford Mustang, knows how to operate power tools, and listens to Hoobastank might be 100% gay. Alas, even "gaydar" does not have foolproof accuracy!

This ad (for a now-defunct gay magazine) caused quite an uproar when it appeared on billboards in Ireland in 2001 -- not so much because it showed two guys kissing, but instead mostly because the two guys were on opposing teams!
