WDEQ now playing oldies

Was driving out in the country last week and picked up DeGraff's WDEQ (91.7) near Port Jefferson (a little bubba town outside of Sidney) and it now plays oldies from the 1960s....all in glorious mono!...just like AM. no liners,no DJs or jingles...just continuous oldies....wonder when this took place? Used to play big band for a while around the holidays.

The website has a schedule page but it only has an empty calandar. I'm venturing that Riverside High School still owns it,right?

Gene Kirby of Indian Lake's WRPO is running it.

Interesting. I wonder why the school district quit operating it. Money issues? It looks like they still hold the license.

I know in the past Gene had offered to program the non-school hours on the station, but it sounds like he must be operating it 24/7 now.

Speaking of oldies.....a new pirate to talk about. Picked up"Oldies 101" -freq 101.1- in Cridersville..outside Lima and there's a person with at least 1 watt of power. If you're in the Lima area tune in...before the FCC swoops in!

yeah.....I heard of that microstation too recently...supposedly it's operated by a former "Hits 105.5" staffer who lives in Cridersville.
