Vintage Jones Airchecks: WFJZ Ft. Wayne, IN October-January 2003-4

Here are some additional airchecks from the Jones Smooth Jazz network. These all come from affiliate WFJZ, which served the Ft. Wayne, IN market. For over 1 1/2 years there were no Jones affiliates that offered their streams online, and WFJZ was one of the first to come back online in the fall of 2003.

These files are 192/44.1 and can be found here by date:

Recently I have begun to upload my JRN files to archive.org as well. The files on that site are easier to access from my experience. This is a work in progress, and things will be added and changed over time, but I do hope you like what is there. Here is the link to my archive.org JRN site:

Once again, a big thanks goes off to you for providing these WFJZ-106.7 airchecks. I would like to ask, when did KZSP "Love 95.3"'s stream go away? A wayback machine crawl still showed it on early in 2002.

Crainbebo, KZSP streamed online until sometime in March 2002. I was told there were issues with the equipment that streamed the signal, but I also suspect the crackdown on streams in 2001 played a role in that too. Eventually KZSP dropped Jones and went to a news/talk format.

And now, KZSP is just yet another Tejano Spanish station. I'm sure a lot of people do NOT remember "Love 95.3 - Sax on the Beach." I enjoyed the very old KZSP airchecks especially the one from 1/9/2000. The older the better, so many songs that are never heard on radio anymore.

And now, KZSP is just yet another Tejano Spanish station..

There are only a handful of Tejano stations left, so "yet another" is really inappropriate. There are less than 20 Tejano format stations in the whole USA, and those that survive serve a very special audience group and are very much a part of Texas history. Tejano is one of the few music genres that developed in the USA.

My apologizes. I thought there were a lot of Tejano stations across Texas and the southern states. I suppose Tejano is not the biggest format anymore in TX...regular Norteno must be replacing it.

Except for an AM in Tucson and a couple of variants once upon a time in New Mexico, ther have been no Tejano stations outside of Texas.

The mojority of Regional Mexican stations in TX are a blend of nortena, Banda, Mexican Cumbria and ranchera, not puré nortena. While a few are all nortena most are blends.
