USA streams blocked

I could search for an anser if the Search feature was working, anyway here's the question:

Living outside USA (Portugal) why can't I listen to some radio streams from US radios?

Due to licensing restrictions, we are not able to allow access to the content you are requesting from outside the United States. We are sorry we can no longer provide access to Canada. If you currently reside in the United States, please select one of the options below to process your request. Please allow up to 60 hours to process your request

... I find it weird, almost absurd.

Pedro

Probably all blocked until the gubmint gives them their brand new performance tax. There might be no programming in the USA anyway if it passes.

Actually, there IS a performance tax on streams, but it varies by country. The US rate is about 3 times the royalty in other countries.

That being the case, maybe that is why our friend in Portugal cannot receive US streams.

Many stations are blocking overseas listeners from accessing their streams, not just the USA. You can try connecting through a HTTP proxy. Check for one in the USA to listen in. There are numerous lists of proxies available and you may have to try several to get through. http://proxy.org/ http://www.publicproxyservers.com/ etc.

What station are you trying to listen to? If it's an actual terrestrial station, the stream links at http://www.thestreamcenter.com/ sometimes include a link specifically for non-US access.
