Thursday night tropo in Hudson Valley

Strong tropo opening to Eastern Long Island and Eastern Mass Thursday night. First noted WWLI-105.1 Rhode Island o/WAMQ (Great Barrington, Mass) & WWPR (New York City) which told me DX conditions were good.

New loggings were:

WJFD-97.3 New Bedford, Mass in Portuguese. First noted fighting usuals WZAD and WZBG in a three way battle around 7:45pm, by 8:15pm, WJFD was solidly on top.

WFCC-107.5 Chatham, Mass, Classical "107.5" really nice at 10:43pm, between local on 107.3 and semi-local on 107.7.

WPRO-92.3 Providence, RI at 11:01pm, with interference from local WRNQ on 92.1.

WBMX-98.5 Mix 98-5 Boston, Mass at 11:32pm, o/semi-local WCTW Catskill.

And probably the biggest surprise, WAAF-107.3, Westborough, Mass, at 11:48pm, only 108 miles, but actually topping local WRDW-107.3 (7 miles).

Many previously heards also noted, including:
Long Island: WRCN-103.9, WLIR-107.1, WLIU-88.3
Rhode Island: WBRU-95.5, WEEI-103.7 (over local translator!!)
Mass: WGBH-89.7 over local, and many Boston area signals.

Total heard at this location since May 2003 now at 599.

Wow! That is pretty amazing that WAAF completely obliterated the local signal. I remember an instance when I was about 15 miles away from my house and the local 50kw station was getting stepped on by a Northern Michigan station. I couldn't log it because I wasn't home.

I've logged 618 from my location since October 2002.
