The CBS 2024-25 season thread

It's Aloha for NCIS Hawaii, almost certainly. Whether they cut bait and move on right away or pick up a partial season as filler material, the days look very numbered. (Yeah, yeah...SWAT cheated death...but this ain't that;)) "Origins"would seemingly be a lock for the slot after the mothership. Do they drop a final batch of Hawaii on Fridays after Blue Bloods moves on to the great rerun graveyard? Maybe Sunday nights as fodder against Sunday Night Football. But they still need to fit Matlock in somewhere. So Help Me Todd might be the slot that goes to Matlock, but I wouldn't be shocked if they tried it on Sundays.

Here’s the predicted Fall 2024 schedule:

8 pm The Equalizer
9 pm Tracker

Looks like the predicted TV Line schedule wasn’t too far off.

It’s CBS’ game to lose if Matlock ends up being a flop for some reason.

On the other side, it’s some possible another CSI franchise is in the mix…

Why not just bring back Murder she Wrote, if Matlock is back.

They tried that several years ago with a reboot pilot with Octavia Spencer as Jessica Fletcher, but Agenla Lansbury (who still owned some creative rights) went on a surprise (?) racist tirade about how Jessica shouldn’t be black and such and the reboot was culled. But now that Lansbury is dead anything is possible.

I thought that Matlock would've been on after 60 Minutes I didn't think that it air on a weeknight I was going to check it out no matter where they put it. Glad to see Tracker leading the night on Sun.

As the season ends trouble is brewing for the renewed Elsbeth next season as the ratings decline already:

Ok, let’s be real for a moment. That IMDb link in turn goes to some random, and poorly written, nonsense site that quotes one Reddit post. That isn’t journalism, and should not be taken remotely seriously. Just because there’s a headline doesn’t mean it’s anything substantial.

They’ll probably keep “Equalizer,” “NCIS:Hawaii,” and “Elsbeth” around since those three do well ratings wise. And they do have a fan base as well.
Equalizer is just horrible. They should’ve called it something else. It’s nothing like the original TV show with Edward Woodward.

Discouraging their canceling after 14 seasons, Blue Bloods. Where is the claimed production cost of getting too expensive. Also they didn’t want to pay the actors what they deserved to get paid. Lots of cuts. The show still has a couple of seasons of life left in it. I think it’s very popular in the ratings it’s kind of a conservative stuffy show, but well written good characters good stories.

I enjoy the Queen Latifah version. I’m also surprised that her take will last longer than the original, and as long as there’s a audience for this reboot I don’t see it leaving the lineup, plus with “Tracker” as a lead in, it’ll be one reason why CBS will win Sunday nights.
