text message blasting

For those of you that are mass-texting your listeners with info/scores/news/etc, some questions:

1) Who's your provider?
2) How easy/difficult is it?
3) Is it worth the effort/cost?

If you thought about it, and decided against it, what was your reasoning?

It is as easy or hard as you want it to be. The good providers have easy back-end platforms that are user-friendly. From my experience it is well worth the expense, especially if you have a revenue model attached.

Hit me on AIM and I can explain more, as well as suggest providers.

The systems are very easy to use. You can have multiple databases. When a subscriber opts-out, the system automatically takes care of this. RadioLaunchPad even allows standard applications like TXT4Tix giveaways to be operated in such a way that you just enter the details and the system not only launches the text message campaign, but also provides you with on-air announcements and even terms & conditions.

I'm not looking for an easy way to send cookie-cutter promotional messages to a bunch of folks; I'm trying to find a viable method of disseminating information to my listeners.

In my opinion the best company out there doing mobile to a mass audience is www.fandrivemedia.com. They do it for Staples Center in LA , AEG concerts, NFL Network and the station group I consult. They have a very slick web interface that lets me manage my database of mobile numbers I collect. These guys have got it down to a science. It gives us a definite advantage.

Mrpeavy: Critical Mass Media does that, and you don't have to be a CC station to work with them
