Sarah Colmark resigns as WRR's GM

Her resignation was submitted on Monday and takes effect on October 1st. The story was originally reported by the Observer and was quickly picked up by the Morning News; however, per http://artsblog.dallasnews.com/2013/09/wrr-gm-sarah-colmark-leaving-oct-1.html, she apparently first found out that the resignation was accepted by reading the News' story (at http://cityhallblog.dallasnews.com/...-than-two-years-after-hiring-current-one.html, which includes links back to various Observer stories).

I'm a Classical fan, but demographic shifts and listener preferences in DFW will force changes at WRR. Might be time to explore non-comm options...or revive that big three way signal switch that got scuttled a few years back.

Houston, San Antonio and Austin have viable non-comm Classical stations. Classical has moved below 92 MHz elsewhere in the country as well. Might be time in DFW. If the "Friends of WRR" are serious, they should fork over the money to make things happen.

I don't think the "friends" would be happy with that solution.

Don't know her, or anyone else working there, but I do know since she came on board the station has sounded very bad. The processing became much more compressed, with a bias towards the high frequencies... the kind of sound un-educated ears mistake for Hi-Fi. The musical selections seemed to be all over the place too... as if they were chosen by someone who doesn't know anything about music, but has a few books and surveys handy. The forced-personality jabber was the third strike for me. It's still on my alarm-clock, but once I wake up, I turn it off, and don't usually tune back in during the day. I sure hope a real broadcaster, who has a genuine love of music and some knowledge of the Classical genre, can be found to take over.
