Rihanna- Pon De Replay

It seems every summer since 2003 there's always 1 female hip hop vocal that becomes the summer anthem...
Lumidee- uh oh
Nina Skye- Move Your Body

and the latest one...

Rihanna- Pon De Replay

As the years progress these songs are getting more and more dancey. Honestly, when I first heard this song I didnt even think it was hiphop..it's so fast...What do u guys think???

It doesn't sound like hiphop because it's a reggaeton song.

As it exists, I think that song should do well on CHR and rhythmic/hiphop stations... I don't know that I see it crossing over to dance. However, I could very well see some good remixes coming from this that would give it a lot of dance appeal (i.e., Norty Cotto's remix of "Move Your Body").

Stop the reggaton please! I know I'm just expressing my own opinion but considering how a lot of the songs sound alike, isn't the general populus sick of these tunes? Yeah, I know the answer, after all that's why they keep making these songs. lol<P ID="signature">______________

Get your genres right, Pon De Replay is far from being Reggaeton...

This isn't reggaeton. It's more of a dancehall track, a la Sean Paul, but it's fast enough to be considered dance in my opinion. This song is far more dance-friendly than any reggaeton song.

Reggaeton is already outshining and outselling your beloved Dance format.

Deal with it.

You wish! Dance sells a lot more around the world then your beloved skanky Reggaeton garbage.
We're dealing with it just fine by the way :)

Dance= Established Genre

Reggaeton= Fad

If only some of these stations could copy the success of WKTU, than Hurban.

Whats up Brian, hope all is well in North Florida. Are you guys seeing some success stories with your Rhythmic station over there?

Hey CHRles!
We're having a HELL of a lot of fun with Fly 92-1. I'm confident we've put some pretty hard damage on Z96 but we'll see come August 4th when the numbers come out.
We are playing Pon De Replay and Kelly Osborne in regular rotation plus a lot of dance in our mix shows (Mon-Sat 12p-1p and Sat 7p-2a).
Drop me an e-mail if you wanna see some pictures.
