Rick Roberts Show

It would seem that ever since Rick Roberts started to be syndicated that the production values have gotten really bad. Some of their music beds go on too long (obviously as a cover up) and then lately you hear him starting to talk about San Diego stuff (Mt. Soledad Cross) then he seems to kick in that he is also on another station.

Rick's show was never "tight" but now it is plain amateurish.

Not really syndicated, more of a relay in a sense. The Oklahoma City station is Rick's radio home when he is back in the region.<P ID="signature">______________

OK...

Still the show seems to have pacing problems...

Roberts whole act is based on exploiting tragedy,
molestations, murder, etc. He's one cynical dude.
There's no entertainment value to the man.

Why does KFMB sign a long-term deal with this goon and then let him ship his show off to another station 1,000 miles away? Especially considering that other station has less than 1% of the listening audience (and is 40 markets smaller than SD).

I would describe him as a wanna be Bill O'Reilly trapped in a Michael Savage mentality. I don't know about the 'exploitation of tragedy' charge, it seems like all media exploits tragedy, or at least goes to the nth degree to make hay out of it. The main problem that I can see with Roberts is that he sounds like he's trying to get worked up over an issue, much the way Michael Savage does, and starts attacking callers or rants out of control. Savage at least seems sincere, if a little crazy; Roberts, on the other hand, seems like he is trying too hard to get worked up and comes across as mean spirited or putting on an act. When he's not busy deriding a caller's intelligence, he'll seem to ramble or rant in a vain attempt to get callers worked up about what he thinks is currently important. Most talk shows seem to smoothly transition from one guest or topic to another, his doesn't. I also find it hard to listen to that gravelly voice first thing in the morning. I liked Roberts better in the afternoon, and I thought the David Westerfield murder trial coverage a few years back was a high point for him.

If we glue a 20 dollar bill on his forhead, will you guys promise to keep him in SD and off the OKC airways? I'd rather watch paint dry than listen to this chump's show.
