Retro overseas AM/SW audio logs

Retro tape recordings of jingles and ID's from exceptional overseas catches are welcome in this thread. Focus is the 'golden age of DX' (60s to 90s) where many AM and SW stations could be listened to that unfortunately no longer exist today. Possibly one or the other tough UNID log can be cracked by the 'swarm intelligence' of the forum visitors, too.

Wanna kick off the thread with the following AM retro log from 1978:

Nice catch! Interesting list of about 20 station in the network!

Very cool! Can't wait to hear more!
Tx a lot, the following recording is a flashback to the early 80s, when Radio Chad was an everyday guest in the 60m Band. In Europe frequently with a SIO '544', especially what concerns the morning programs.
Have no idea how good reception of RNT was in Canada and the States. So I don't post it as a 'rare catch' but rather as an nostalgic acoustic 'adventure trip':

Chad installed a new, powerful shortwave transmitter around 2007 which provided a very nice signal into Texas on 60 meters (can’t remember if it was on 4904 or close by.) However it didn’t last very long; might have fallen victim to the frequent civic unrest in that country.

Unfortunatelly, many African stations have gone out of service through political turmoil or financial problems (e.g. Kaduna, NIG).

In the mid 1990s N'Djamena once could be heard on 840 AM to my complete surprise. But reception quality was such poor, that I identified the station only through comparison of music rhythm patterns between AM and 4904 on 60m.

Ive been an AM Dxer for 25+ years (I;m almost 40).. got into shortwave in 2014 and now am primarily into SW from Alaska.

One of my most favorite SW stations today is Radio Nacional Amazonias on 11780 from Brazil. That 100kw pounds into Alkaska way better and more often than youd think.

So you're enviably young (at least in comparison to me ;-). I was also 15 when I made the 'Almirante' recording back in 1978.

amdx_alemania.jpg

Alaska surely is a fine place for DXing. In the densely populated areas of Central Europe it's no longer much fun today because of strong noise levels.

So I'm now digitizing my still completely preserved cassette collection (approx. 120 tapes/C90) from the old times, not in the dead of night but at pleasant times of the day, and often come across surprising discoveries ... It's fun to sometimes identify a 'UNID' station 40 years later after it had been recorded ...

Enjoy Radio Amazonia!

And if you'd like to listen to some panpipes from Peru, here's my first entry in the 'Shortwave Radio Audio Archive' :

was reported 1974 in Norway? Can anybody help? Does anyone have

I remember Dakar being heard often in the US in the 1970’s, as reported in the IRCA DX Monitor. I heard a het occasionally from my QTH in Oklahoma, but never any discernible audio.

Hi 'wildthangjim', here's a second record from January 1981 - 23:52 UTC w/ID in MP3 at 3:27 :

https://www.risikoanalyse.com/dx/mwdx_orts_dakar_764_khz_1981.mp3

In addition to Dakar, R Conakry was often audible on 1403 kHz. Very rarely also R Ouagadougou on 747 AM and R Lomé on 1395. With an even better loop antenna I once managed to receive N'Djamena on 840 AM with a very weak signal (// 4904 kHz) and to my complete surprise KBC/ VoKenya on 1377 kHz including clear ID, although there was no such station listed in the WRTH (only 1368 AM?).

The AM reception of distant African stations from my QTH in Germany is made difficult by the congruent 9 kHz AM raster, most frequencies are completely covered by Euopean transmitters.

Although this is 'getting better' with the increasing number of stations being switched off in Europe, on the other side conditions for undisturbed AM reception have also deteriorated significantly in recent years.
