What ever happened to John "Ozone" Osterland?

He was one of the better DJs on Waaf for quite awhile, then I know he moved to a talk morning show and got into a little bit of trouble.

Any idea where he is now? Any chance of him coming back to a rock station?

He was the only mid-day DJ that I could actually listen too and be entertained. His replacement at WAAF (Carrie) is just horrible (IMHO) - was hoping that she was only a temporary solution over there - but obviously she is there to stay . . .

Lets see he got busted for posession of a class D substance just as he started at WRKO co hosting the morning show.

then there were some slips of the tongue that got him in some hot water, suspended at least twice

then he was let go from Entercom

One of the worst jocks ever heard. Tried to get into sirius but is not well thought of by many there so his attempt to get hired was flattened pretty hard. He will not takke over for Stern that is just fantasy Im betting it's Ozone spreading the rumour trying to revitalize interest I think he's gone the wya of Rocko and is also done.

Well that's your opinion - I actually liked him and know a lot of others that do as well. He was simple in his approach, tried to make people laugh (and was successful), had good ratings - constantly beating his competition in the 18-30 market, and didn't mind talking light-heartedly about politics.

"The masses are asses" is one of the best and truest lines that he had.

I miss him, wish he would come back to a major rock station in/around Boston (BCN, HJY, AAF, or GIR). He's sure better than anything in the afternoons on any other station in Boston (Carrie on AAF is horrible (my 2 cents), Jen on HJY is ok - but nothing great, and god knows who is on BCN).

Talk radio was his biggest mistake, he should just be a regular DJ/PD on a rock station.

In a word, Ozone is a hack but I will say that as an Md he did well with waaf's music logs. His strength was definately not on air. my opinion. He had a really bad attitude too some of the things that came out of his mouth weere just point blank white trash and not an act.

I agree. Ozone rocked, and was an excellent music director as well. Carrie doesn't really do anything for me either. Would have liked to see Mike Hsu get the midday shift, but would love it if ozone came back.

Again great Md, station had a definate identity and edge to it but his show was just meandering, non prepared, breaks that went on and on and went nowhere, reading from the paper/personals and giving his commentary. Osterlind suffered from the worst affliction, he thought he was a lot smarter than he is and thought he had something to say. He was a hack on air but a great MD..

John is in Miami doing VERY well. He is now a co-owner of a rock club with Steve Flagg (who is now no longer with waaf) in Miami. Just before, John was doing a shift at Zeta4... before they flipped to spanish.
