In 1970 Douglas created The Road Gang, an all-night radio show for truckers, at WWL/New Orleans. He also served two terms as CRS President. Douglas later went on to co-foundCDX. A memorial service will be held Saturday (12/3) at Mill Creek Baptist Church, 11 Old Kiln Rd., Picayune, MS 39466.
Met him my freshman year at TU. He was on Tulsa’s 1300 KOME and they had a damn fine sounding top 40 going up against KAKC but their signal just wasn’t up to the task and KAKC was already too entrenched. Later listened to him on “The Road Gang” on the big L as I drove across country (didn’t matter where, WWL sounded like it was just around the next curve, it was so loud).
