PID packet identifier? That was March 2021 and could be broadcast signal even if a usual notion is that it's the receiving end. Now June, WBZ-TV CBS Boston usual signal strength not all the time, not as strong from time to time for folks receiving via antenna.
OK, reading this a few times....
I asked about your first (March 2021) problem with audio, just wondering if you ever got an answer from anyone, or from the station. Did other people have a problem, and did anyone ever answer them? A major problem would be noted by the station, it's viewers, and their clients/advertisers.
As for the audio PID, different receivers use PID's in different ways, so (even in sets made by the same manufacturer) may respond to misplaced data. If the station changed their encoder, and didn't get everything exactly right, some (but not all) receivers might get confused. If they changed brands of encoders, it would be even more likely. So, some people might lose audio, or see it showing up on an unusual setting, while most would not.
I would hope that re-scanning the TV would fix it.
As for the recent signal issue, yes, that really is just due to "nature'. Summer means more leaves on the trees, and more moisture in the air. That attenuates your received signal. Also, more atmospheric noise in the summer will add interference (mostly lightning-caused) to your received signal.
