Nexstar forces 30 layoffs at KLRT and KARK

This is a littel late and I didn't see a post so here goes. On Jan. 30, 2013 an article was published about Nexstar laying off 30 employees from Little Rock, Akransas' Fox KLRT Ch. 16 and CW KARK. This happened less than a month after Mission Broadcasting purchased KLFT and KARK, Nexstar signed an ooutside services agreement and Mission approved the removal of the station's GM. According to an inside souce, 20 layoffs came from KLRT including the news director and sports anchor. Eight employees from the NBC affiliate KARK including three on-air talents.
Is this typical of Nexstar. I always heard Sinclair was good about doing this.

Nexstar has done this in some of its other markets. It usually doesn't buy a two news department operation with the intention of running a bloated operation.

Its basically one newsroom at Nexstar Little Rock, although "Fox 16" has their own set. Some on-air talent (Greg Dee) are working both stations. The biggest changes (besides the gutted newsroom) has been in social networking for Fox 16. KLRT did a few FB posts pre-merger with KARK, but now often its duplilcate stories and often literally cutted and pasted (except for items involving network shows). The digital (.2) subchannels of KLRT (THIS) and KASN (The Country Network) were dropped. Also on KARZ, the KARK-branded 7-8am newscast was dropped for infomercials.
