New Seattle Country station!

I'm aghast that no one has mentioned it because it's all over the Seattle board! 100.7 is now Country as "The Wolf". This is the first time KMPS has had a major competitor in many a moon.(speaking of howling) They used to have 2 but bought both of them.

If you read all the posts on the Seattle board about this new "hick" station with all the old stereotypes you'll know why NYC and San Fransisco can't get a country station. Seattle is a market with a big country audience for KMPS, but the posters still think it's only about pickup trucks & good 'ol boys. Sad.

Seattle has three country stations 102.9, 94.1,and 100.7? That seems excessive for the Seattle/Tacoma metro. Am I missing something?

102.9 is a rimshot. 100.7 is actually a Seattle station.

Seattle is a far less ethnic market compared to either NYC or SF. Seattle-Tacoma can probably support 2 country stations (or 2.5 if you count the rimshot) more than either NYC or San Francisco could support 1.
