New HAC songs

I was wondering everyones opinions on the new HAC stuff out at the moment, seems to me there is some excellent new stuff including:

* Goo Goo Dolls - Better Days; a bit of a slower one from them, and I think they do that really well. The intro seems quite Coldplay like to me, but thankfully John Rzeznik is singing not Chris Martin ;-)
* Better Than Ezra - Our Last Night
* Lifehouse - Blind; may take a while to break out with the ongoing success of You and Me
* Fray - Over My Head; be interesting to see how this tune does, seems quite AAA really?
* Gavin DeGraw - Follow Through; I much prefer this one to Chariot
* Staind - Right Here
* Collective Soul - How Do You Love
* Howie Day - She Says; hopefully will be big since it comes from an excellent album!
* Keith Urban - You'll Think Of Me; really like this one, and stations are catching on to it really quickly
* Sheryl Crow - Good Is Good; going to be a huge worldwide hit

And then there is plenty of other tunes, which I might not put in my favourites category but are doing/will do OK. What is everyone else enjoying at the moment?
______________

My top choices at the moment:

Better Than Ezra- Our Last Night- I got a leg up on this one, and the crowd loves it

Goo Goo Dolls- Better Days- Beautiful Song

The Fray- Over My Head- A nice Alt/AAA/Hot AC multi-format tune. Really digging this one.

Dishwalla- Coral Sky- Kind of rocking, but I absolutely LOVE it. Getting a great response too. Anyone else playing this one?

Black Lab- See The Sun- Anyone remember this band from 1997? They've got a new album out.. check out http://www.blacklabworld.com

Cherry Monroe- Satellites- Not playing this one? Add it. Now.

Jack's Mannequin- The Mixed Tape- Probably gonna give this one a try at nights to start. Catchy as hell from the Something Corporate lead singer

This song did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for us when we were spinning it in Late May/June/Early July.
AND THE BAND'S HOMETOWN IS AN HOUR AWAY!

> Chariot

AGREED there...

> * Staind - Right Here

We're not playing it yet, but I do like the song. Only heard it a few times.

> * Howie Day - She Says; hopefully will be big

Hopefully will be big because it is a GREAT SONG. I love this tune. We've been spinning it for about a month, still overnights though

ADD:

Joy Williams - We
Good song, we are playing it (the mainstream version)
3 Doors Down - Here By Me
GREAT song...but won't test at all

> * Goo Goo Dolls - Better Days; Boring, same as sympathy
> * Better Than Ezra - Our Last Night GREAT SONG, I was sad when LIFETIME flopped on pop, stupid indie label
> * Lifehouse - Blind; Too long, there are better tracks on the album, YAM took forever to get where it is , its the second longest song on the chart (LMG 3DD being the longest), dont expect this to be huge.
> * Fray - Over My Head; The cd is great, top 40 at alternative, EPIC needs to learn how to push a record..
> * Gavin DeGraw - Follow Through; Didn't this hit 25* hac two years ago? This song was never good, he's done until a new album comes.
* Staind - Right Here Boringgggggggg, it's already bombed on pop, this will fall very soon
> * Collective Soul - How Do You Love Surprisingly, even with an indie label, still managed a top 10 hit with BN, I see this being the same, but no crossover on pop
> * Howie Day - She Says; Already growing at pop, and top 20 at hac, great third single off the album.
> * Keith Urban - You'll Think Of Me; Old, old old. Don't see this doing better than LLYWD by TM, but it's more HAC than TM was. Its already slowing down on pop though.. stalling a bit at HAC.
> * Sheryl Crow - Good Is Good; TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. THIS IS WORSE THAN SOAK UP THE SUN.
______________

> Jack's Mannequin- The Mixed Tape- SC is over with, and this song flopped at alternative, but it's gaining some. I don't see this as being HAC, it's too hard, if HAC won't touch RIGHT HERE, this has no chance.

Yeah, not a lot of response for the song, but it's great live. I was sad to see universal not really push this song, it coulda been top 40.

Not my favorite, but it's starting to grow on me.

> * Gavin DeGraw - Follow Through; I much prefer this one to

Gave this a few spins back in late '03. I loved it then, and am glad it's finally doing something.

> * Keith Urban - You'll Think Of Me; really like this one,

"Take your cat and leave my sweater"? Puh-leez! But I'm not in the HAC target demo, so what I think doesn't matter much. Great listener response to this one so far. We've had this in rotation since August and it doesn't seem like it's going to go away anytime soon.

> * Sheryl Crow - Good Is Good; going to be a huge worldwide
> hit

"Good is good and bad is bad"? Brilliant deduction, Sheryl. Not a bad tune, though. Another "Soak Up the Sun" in the making.

Others:

+ Nickelback - Photograph: Currently our most requested current.
+ Weezer - Beverly Hills: We've been spinning this since mid-summer, and now that it's catching on at HAC, I'm getting tired of it. Go figure. Good uptempo tune.
+ Kelly Clarkson - Because of You: I much prefer it when she takes the softer approach, which is where IMO her singing strength lies. As opposed to the shouting BTHE and SUBG. Great tune.
+ Alanis Morissette- Crazy: Not a bad cover...for a cover. Clocking at 5:00+, it makes a great song to throw in and go to the can.

That's it for this week. Until next time, keep your feet in your shoes and keep walking on the ground.

Peace.

Excellent cut from the boys! Very moody, very Coldplayish, very good song!

Very good song. Kinda of catch. The video for it rocked.

When will AC/Hot AC MDs and PDs remember the are NOT country stations?! Faith Hill may have been a crossover exception, but that shouldn't make it open door policy for the rest of the "Lost my money, lost my girl, I'll sing a sad twangy song ," crowd.

Will NEVER be a worldwide it, it sucks big time. way to slow to match SUtS.
the reason it has staying power is beacuse Sheryl is singing, but that diffiently dosen't make it a hit.

OUTSTANDING. Excellent theme for the young romantic crowd and those reminisacing about the romance of small town youth.

Good tune. Like the girl going 'you want me' when Cummo and the boys go "Beverly Hills that's where I want to be,"
> + Kelly Clarkson - Because of You: I much prefer it when she

It is there, not a flop, but not a 'Break Away'
> + Alanis Morissette- Crazy: Not a bad cover...for a cover.

> A good cover of a good song. I think Seal and his orgional version still has the upper hand, but Alanis makes good with her distinctive vocals and synth work.
