New Daytime Soap Opera at CBS In Development

More on the P&G aspect of The Gates:

Generations is irrelevant. Declining audiences for serialized daytime content in this century is relevant, not what happened decades ago in a troubled time slot on NBC. Generations could have been a big hit; it makes zero difference in 20-freaking-24.
The problem is Soap Operas AS A GENRE are in trouble on OTA TV. Why do you think DOOL was moved exclusively to Peacock??

It won't be long before Y&R & B&B are exclusively moved to either Paramount Plus or Pluto TV Soaps & disney is forced to move GH tp Hulu since Disney isn't likely to take it for Disney Plus

If CBS owns the show they can place it on as many (or few) platforms as they want. If on CBS it will automatically be on Paramount Plus. And maybe they will decide to air it in PlutoTV also, possibly delayed by a few weeks to give Paramount Plus an exclusive streaming window.
Y&R & B&B air on Pluto TV soaps THE SAME DAY. Why would CBS treat this new show any differently??

To who? CBS cares less about the success of B&B than the success of the new soap because CBS will own some or all of the new soap.

CBS makes money off of B&B. An upstart soap will take years to gain traction.

And this new show doesn't have years. IF IT IS LUCKY, it'll have A FEW MONTHS before CBS starts fingering the OTA ax like they did with The Talk

I’m not sure I understand your point.

In 2023, CBS averaged 3,518,000 viewers. The two most popular cable networks Fox News and ESPN averaged 1.8 and 1.7 million viewers.
Perhaps I should've noted my point doesn't include the news, business & sports outlets :) lol

Apparently CBS doesn’t care about your point either since they’re going full throttle on this as well as canceling a show at #22 in the ratings but being the least watched on the network.
