My AM Band (530-1700) - night & daytime...

Surprised you get WIND during the day with 550 Cincy & WIND sending most of their signal north.

I also receive 560 WIND here in Cincinnati daytimes with WKRC nulled , although I do have to use a ferrite loop antenna to receive them. I can hear WIND at night also. As I recall, WIND has a fairly strong signal in central Indiana during the day.

Here in Cincinnati, the strongest Chicago day signal is 780 KHZ, the strongest of the weak day signals that is. Days I can also receive 670, 720, 890 but very weak, and 1000 on a good day. 720 is sandwiched between our locals 700WLW and 740WNOP, so you need a good radio/antenna to receive it, but it puts in a good night signal. I love listening to that Milt Rosenburg guy on WGN evenings.

Sunset skip 820, 850, 1030. 1690 booms in here for sss when on their 10KW power.

Nights, 560, 670, 720, 780, 890, 1000, we have a local on 1160, & 1690 weak but regular.

I'm using a pretty good receiver / antenna combination in order to receive the day sigs, although in winter I have received them on some small portable radios.

WLW's IBOC is clearly heard under WGN in the St. Marys, Ohio area. I don't see how you could get it daytime in Cincinnati! I hate hearing the crap hamper WLW's otherwise crisp signal.

It's the opposite here in the Chicago area. You can barely hear WLW during the day sandwiched between WSCR & WGN.

I have a Drake R8B receiver, and rotatable ferrite rod antennas, one of which provides super good nulling. WLW is northeast of my location, so I am able to null it just enough for daytime reception of WGN. WLW completely destroys 690 and is severe on 710 here in Cincy, although I can receive WOR and other 710 stations with the antenna null directed at WLW.

At night it is an easier matter, although I am only 4 miles from WNOP and even at night with 30 watts directed at me, they send a pesky signal in my direction. Of course, I could drive two miles in either direction, and they would fade away.

I see 940 is again using their old call letters of WCIT. Didn’t they used to be in Celina? Back in the day, I always listened to WCIT when I traveled to Fort Wayne. In my opinion, it was a pretty good rock & roll station.

WLW is still do-able daytime northwest of Chicago. But it's not as easy as it used to be with all the buzzers turned on. Same goes for WJR.

WJR is very tough now in Chicago with that 750 in Indiana. WJR used to be an easy day catch.

Personally I don't know too much about WCIT's history ... I have family in that area and was visiting. Gr8 Oldies probably knows a lot more about that than me. It did sound good over the weekend in SM, even for not shooting much power in that direction.
To an earlier poster ... is WGN back to running IBOC? I read somewhere that they weren't anymore. As far away as I was from Chicago and with the Bowling Green station on 730, I couldn't hear any buzz even if it was there.

I used to listen to WOWO regularly in the northern Chicago suburbs in the 60s & 70s. Even had a button on it in the car.
Now with the splatter from WRTO I can't get it at all.

I'm surprised some of those stations (WTVN, WIMA, WKNR among a few others) get into Dayton at night but WOWO does not. It still sounds pretty good after dark in St. Marys even with the pattern change and reduced power.

WOWO still blasts into the Celina/St. Marys area as though no power change ever happened, but Dayton is a little iffy. I'm not so sure about WIMA at night, may have just included it out of force of habit. WTVN is basically gone but still can hear it in the mud.

Surprised KOMA (or whatever) is getting into Dayton....there's a pretty serious null to the east and northeast.

I heard WIMA at night in the Columbus area on a few occasions back in the early 90s. It sent a nice lobe southeast that made it dependable as far as Marysville. The other night visiting St. Marys WIMA was dominant on 1150 with the Canadian oldies station clearly underneath. I don't recall that much interference on WIMA from back in the 80s, but who knows.

KOMA was loud and clear when I was in remote, very thinly populated section of eastern NM during the evening hours, when it played top 40 music in the late 70s.
