Locked Threads

I want to comment on a thread from 2019 that is still very relevant today, however it says it is locked due to inactivity. This is very frustrating. I shouldn't have to start a new thread when the old one falls in line perfectly with what I'd be referencing. I don't know when you all started locking threads, but I see no point in it.

Some other boards when a thread goes idle for a bit, either a Mod/Admin will close them or depending on the forum platform it can auto close. A railroad board I help on auto secures threads after 90 days of non-activity.

Can always make a new thread maybe with a link to the old one.

Which thread do you want to re-open? Please post a link to the thread.

I have set the timer so the threads become locked after one year of inactivity. That seems reasonable to me.

It has become a big problem. People have been responding to threads which are more than ten years old.
Start a new thread. On a number of occasions, I have merged the new thread with the old one. This effectively opens the old thread for further posting.
