I seem to remember the KTXA studio being just west of Collins in Arlington in the early 90's. Am I mistaken? And wasn't 21 liscended to Arlington at one point?

You are correct. They were there in the 80's and had subscription tv service at night called "ON TV".

Didnt ON TV show Star Wars with a simulcast on Q102?

It's still liscensed as a Fort Worth/Dallas station. I seem to remember it as being on the SE corner of what is now Randol Mill and Nolan Ryan expressway, across the street from what is now the first base entrance to the ballpark.

Yep. KTXA = Texas/Arlington. They were sister stations with KTXH, Houston. They both had studios near their respective Six Flags parks, and both were absorbed by other stations (21 by CBS11, 20 by Fox26).

Yes they sure did and KZEW at the same time.

If I'm not mistaken, they were the first Fox station in the market. Then, they became Independent Paramount 21, followed by UPN 21. Fox moved over to KDAF, and we all know what happened after that.
______________

Nope they never were UPN only FOX. They were FOX in the late 80's (after a very short spell as an INDY) until the mid 90's when the movie studios wanted to get into TV. KDAF CH.33 has just purchased new news vehicles, building a state of the art news studio and had hired some pretty good talent to do news when FOX bought Ch.4 and deserted them. The vehicles were sold off, work stopped on the studio, and the new hires were a"negotiated " released. It looked like Ch.33 was once more doomed to go off the air until the WB was formed.

Actually, they flipped to WB on the same day that 4 and 11 flipped. Channel 39 was actually the first WB affiliate in DFW.

I think you misread my post, Ed. I was talking about KTXA being the first Fox station in the Metroplex, not KDAF. I thought KTXA was FOX before KDAF. It seems like I remember some promos for FOX 21, back in the late 80's/early 90's.
______________

Nope they were never Fox. After they dumped "ON TV" they became the alternate for NBC programming when KXAS had the Rangers and Mavericks. Ch.27 then became the alternative NBC outlet a year later. KTXA was always an INDY loaded with Viacom shows like Andy Griffith, and Gomer Pyle etc. until Paramount bought them from Taft and I don't mean the Late Harold.
