I recall quite a rock rivalry back in these days, especially between Q102 and The Keg. You would also hear an abrupt change in format at 7pm with The Frye Zone, playing more alternative rock to compete with the new format on 104.9, which flipped to alternative earlier that year. You hear the change in the last couple of songs in this aircheck, playing Oasis and Stabbing Westward.

I believe in 1997, Q102 flipped to CHR Mix 101.9 and 93.3 The Eagle debuted with its classic rock format.
