KIDO 580 files for a Construction Permit to Diplex with KBOI 670

Interesting move. Usually when you hear one AM will diplex on another AM station's tower(s), it means a cut in power. But that's not really the case here.

Currently KIDO is 5,000 watts. Non-directional by day. But directional at night using a four-tower array. Now the station will boost daytime power to 20,000 watts daytime, still non-directional. At night, there's a slight cut in power, going to 4,400 watts with a directional antenna, instead of 5,000 watts.

And it has an FM translator at 107.5 in Boise, even though KIDO is licensed to Nampa, about 10 miles west.

Another oddity. KBOI will be sharing its tower with its chief competition. Both stations air conservative talk. KBOI has local AM and PM drive shows, with the Cumulus-Westwood One national line up the rest of the day: Dan Bongino, Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro and Red Eye Radio. KIDO has a local morning show with syndicated shows filling out the weekday schedule: Dave Ramsey, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Lars Larson and Coast to Coast AM with George Noory all night. KIDO is a Fox News affiliate, KBOI carries ABC News.

This shows the nighttime skywave including local coverage and indicates a small sliver of Boise uncovered, as opposed to the above that appears to miss Boise altogether! https://www.fccdata.org/?facid=&cal...=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en
That's not Nighttime Interference Free (NIF) ground wave.
Mine is the calculated for community of license coverage from the application. Higher angle radiation used in skywave 'may' narrow the nulls but have little effect on the ground wave. Maybe add skywave cancellation in the nulls on the ground.
