Kanye West Is NUMBER ONE On The Billboard Hot 100 and Top 200!!! :)

The excellent "Gold Digger" skyrockets from last week's number 19 all the way to number one!:

While there have been several occasions in the past where a song has debuted at number one, I can't remember the last time a song made such a leap from the lower half of the Top 20, all the way to the top.

On the newer Pop 100 chart he JUMPS from last weeks number 94...to number 2!!!:

And look who's debuted at number one on the Albums Chart this week:

Congrats goes out to Kanye West, on a stellar week on all the charts that matter.

I wonder if Kanye West's success this week on the charts has anything to do with the noteriety he's received ever since he lashed out at President Bush during NBC's live Hurricane Relief benefit on September 2nd.

Just like baking a cake, the cream always rises.

The added publicity helped I'm sure. But lets keep in mind that the man's debut CD was quite successful and at least three songs got considerable CHR/RHY and Urban airplay. Add to that, the number of hits he's produced for other artists and you know the CHR audience became aware of the guy.

You don't sell 860,000 CD's in one week and get on the cover of Time magazine with a headline something about the most important man in pop music without Ashley, Bethany, Lisabeth, Joey, Tommy and Gretchen (and many of their friends) buying your ish.<P ID="signature">______________
