Sales represents all that is soulless and wrong!!!!

My first radio job was answering a request line. I was 14 when I did that.

Interning, Paid or NOT, is the best way to get that 1st Job.

Sometimes they can just find you!

sales

that may be somewhat true, but if you're really good and really driven, Radio Sales can be big bucks. It just depends on what's important to you.

If you're taking care of your customers, it is not soulless or wrong.

I'll get back to you when I think of a cute quote</P>

Rather than guessing, why don't we just list what our first job was, assuming we're some of the industry success stories (hey, everything's relative).

I was an off-air traffic reporter for a major morning show. I did a number of other things, including helping the jock to select his oldies (it was a rocker that allowed the jock to pull one or two oldies an hour at their disgression). He liked my selections so much, he allowed me to do it for him after a while and featured the requests in a 'from the vault' segment he created.

I started running the whole ESPN Radio station. Then became scoreboard anchor, Play-by-play guy, Then in the winter 2 of our stations fliped formats one to Hip-Hop other to Oldies. Thats when they needed a night jock. They asked me and without thinking I took it. And the rest is history.

My first radio job was at a Class B 50kW oldies station in Columbus, Ohio(has changed format since). I started off interning at the end of my freshman year in College, and later got into special events/promotions. I went to several small stations around the state before coming back to Columbus. I'm now at the #1 station in Columbus.
