Jackson gains 2 subchannel television networks but loses 1

Raycom Media has an agreement to carry two new digital over-the-air broadcast television networks, the female-centric "Escape" and the male-centric "Grit", in Jackson when they launch next Monday, August 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM CDT.

Escape TV (www.escapetv.com/) will air on channel 3.3. "Escape is an all-new television network with movies and series that are daring, sexy and anchored in stories of crime and mystery." Escape (For Women) will feature daring and sexy stories of crime, justice and mystery. Escape will also feature true crime series, including Snapped, Unsolved Mysteries, Forensic Files and others. The complete Escape schedule can be found @ www.escapetv.com/tv-schedule/ .

Grit TV (www.grittv.com/) will air on channel 40.3. "Grit is the all-new network television home for your favorite bold, brave and legendary action heroes!" Grit (For Men) will be built around the classic male hero with a focus on western, war and action movies. Grit will also feature the western television series, The Cisco Kid. The complete Grit schedule can be found @ www.grittv.com/tv-schedule/ .

Unfortunately, it appears that "This TV" will no longer be available in Jackson, as it has been airing on channel 3.3. (Hopefully, someday WAPT will add another sub-channel in addition to its radar.)

In summary, the following is how WLBT and WDBD will look next Monday:

3-1 WLBT-NBC
3-2 Bounce TV
3-3 Escape

40-1 WDBD-FOX
40-2 Me-TV
40-3 Grit

Something else is going on with the Jackson subchannels. Around 5:30 p.m. today, WAPT 16 ran a brief promo for MeTV with the music from Cheers in the background. Did 40 drop MeTV and move Grit to 40.2 its old time slot. And is 16 adding MeTV to its subchannels.
