Ingstad Seeks FCC Approval for KKAG 740 AM Purchase in Signal Swap

Apparently...this IS going to happen. Not sure if the calls will stay, but 50,000 watt KKAG will become a sports outlet under Radio Fargo-Mooorhead.

On a side note, many have fed into the swirling story about new owner Jim swapping the strong 740 with 5,000 watt KFGO 790, thus shooting KFGO across the sky over the 5th strongest AM signal in the country!

However, management has "so far" disputed this angle as false. Rumors still continue to circulate that the sports station is temporary at best, and the obvious to many will happen when all is said and done. Stay Tuned... ::)

swapping the strong 740 with 5,000 watt KFGO 790

I wouldn't be eager to swap 790 for 740. KFGO has 5,000 watts at night compared to KKAG's 940 watts. Plus KFGO's night pattern covers Grand Forks much better than KKAG.

740 also labors under a critical hours restriction meaning from November to February that would permit about 5 to 6 hours at 50,000 watts.

The truth

1280 is going to a Catholic company.

The Fan is moving to 740.

Nothing is changing with 790. Daytime signal is good, but nighttime is only good in certain directions, anyway.
