How does Kevin Trudeau become a nutrition expert?

You know the guy..infomercial king Kevin Trudeau, who once sold a memory enhancement program. Now, his rapid fire infomercial and book promise to tell us all the natural cures that "they" don't want us to know. This week Trudeau is a passionate cruseader protecting our health with his products! Tommorrow, who knows?
______________

How did Don LaPree....

Become a Multi Millionaire by placing "one tiny ad" from his small one Bedroom Apartment, to then sell his Secrets for only $39.95, become Bankrupt, and now he's back with "the Worlds Greatest Vitamin"?

Re: How did Don LaPree....

I don't know if LaPree is still around or not. My issue with Trudeau is that he clearly has always been an infomercial marketer, but now he passes himself off as some kind of nutritional/natural cures "expert". I can think of something similar with Tony Hoffma, who was one of the first Real Estate infomercial guys (used to do his infomercials with Cincinnati's Bob Braun)..I saw him a few years later hawking juice, I think.
______________

quack, quack

hey, gang- Google "Kevin Trudeau" and you'll see a TON of all-negative feedback on some Infomercial rip-off websites. It makes for VERY interesting reading.

Bottom line on his latest book (the 29 Cures or whatever) is that even in the book there are no real "cures"- most say it's like a re-run of his infomercials.

Master Marketer, indeed- master fraud, probably.

Kevin Trudeau isn't even supposed to do business in Illinois, but I wonder how often he changes the names of his companies in order to continue doing business in Elk Grove Village and I believe Naperville Illinois. Chicago's WCIU is always airing his infomercials.

I vaguely remember Danny Bonaduce doing some infomercials with Trudeau.
I think he tried the memory thing Trudeau was hawking then. Also when in NYC
Danny was doing the metabolife commercials.. when it had Ephedra in it.

No lie. The Federal Trade Commission smacked him with a big ol' settlement. He's not supposed to appear in informercials except for truthful infomercials about informational publications. Apparently his Natural Cures book falls within that category.

It's too bad he's such a doof--his infomercials are mildly intoxicating. I know it's all a fraud, but he presents it well. His recent one even featured radio guy and voiceover artist (as well as noted Beatle-ologist) Pat Mathews. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna call for his crap.

Note to Kevin: I like my pharmaceuticals. At least I know there's no cod liver oil involved.

Salon.com just did a story on him. Enjoy. (You might have to watch a flash ad if you're not a Salon subscriber)

quack

It looks pretty obvious most of us think this guy is a doofus, but you have to admit- he is DAMNED good at what he does. He really comes off as sincere and convinced about what he's saying.

Maybe he'd have made a good radio station pitchman (?).

Re: quack

I'd certainly trade paychecks. Trudeau did indeed do the memory thing with Danny Bonaduce, Danny comes out and does a monologue like its a legitimate late night talk show, and his "guest" is Kevin Trudeau.
______________

Interesting story. The ones that flock to him are mainly those that are desperate to be relieved of the ailments they have. I don't know which stations around the country, but Weigel Broadcasting's WWME-CA & WCIU still air his infomercials, with him in them.

Maybe I need his products. I have a hard enough
time keeping track of Gary and Pierre.

Kevin said the reason why he was fined by the FTC was because the drug companies were in cahoots with the FTC in that knew he was telling the truth about how they don't want cures for diseases like cancer to be brought forth because without diseases, drug companies make no money.
______________
