Good AM reception outside Chicago

Tonight around 11pm I was sitting in my car waiting for my wife to come out of the store and was scanning through the AM dial and came across some good catches.


1130 KWKH Sherveport, LA playing country music coming in like a local which I usually get WISN out of Milwaukee.

1190 WLIB New York, NY coming in like a local for 20 mins with the Mike Malloy show on and caught the call letters at the top of the hour. Best Catch of the night!

1110 KFAB Omaha, NE coming in decent with a boring talk show on, caught a few commercials advertising Omaha and Council Bluff Businesses.

1200 WOAI San Antonio, TX coming in strong with no static.

1690 WWAA Atlanta, GA over local WRLL at times with Air America programming fading in and out.

660 WFAN, 710 WOR, 770 WABC, and 880 WCBS were all stronger then usual tonight. Usually you can barely hear them or nothing at all with all the Chicago AM's usually on the next spot on the dial.

Also if anybody knows lately between 5pm and 8pm CDT I have been picking up on AM 1000 what sounds to be an AC station mixing in Christmas songs. I can faintly hear it underneath WMVP's programming. WMVP's signal by me has been horrible at night now since they cut off the top 100 or 150 feet of their towers in Downers Grove. I am located in the Joliet/Plainfield area.

I heard an AC station on AM 1000 a couple of weeks ago here in Southern Michigan. Someone told me it could have been CKBW from Nova Scotia!<P ID="signature">______________

1120 KMOX is usually there almost everynight, I even pick up 550 KTRS quite often and that is only 5000 watts. 1100 WTAM is always there also at night.

WMVP is diplexing off of the 890 WLS tower until the new towers are put up. Their night time power is much lower as they are not directional at night while on WLS.
