FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19-20: 97.7

Back in order now in our survey of the traditional US Class A frequencies.

This week, it's 97.7
East Tennessee: Nothing with the behemoth WJXB B97.5 next door.

Retro/other: Dayton, Ohio area: 97.7 was the first home of WSWO-LP, but the transmitter covered more ears of corn than ears of people. (The station jumped on a translator owned by the General Manager at 101.1, almost all listening took place there. WSWO moved down one to 97.5 and finally down to 97.3, where it now has a decent signal into Huber Heights and surrounding area.

Normal reception on 97.7 includes WOXY, a Regional Mexican outlet now licensed to Mason, Ohio and still with the same calls as it did as an alternative rocker licensed to and located in Oxford, OH, home of Miami University. Sometimes WTGN, Lima OH comes in as well.

Retro DX Clip of the week: Before becoming WOXY, 97.7 was WOXR "The Big 97" and this clip is of reception in Charleston, OH, and the person recording it is acknowledged. http://46124.info/FM/Ohio/OH Oxford 97.7 1970 WOXR.mp3

Ellensburg WA

Fair signal of KYSN Wenatchee (Country, Kissin' 97.7). KOMO-FM Oakville (News // 1000 KOMO) often mixes. At Manastash Lake (18 miles W of Ellensburg) I have both stations + K249CV Omak (at only 48 watts, relaying KEYG 'Sunny FM') logged.

Eskip is plentiful here:
KLVO Belen NM (Regional Mexican)
KSNP Burlington KS (Rock)
KNOZ Orchard Mesa CO (Jack FM)
KNZR-FM Shafter CA (News/Talk // 1560 KNZR)
KQVO Calexico CA (KPBS, NPR)
KNBZ Redfield SD (Adult Contemporary)
KZYR Avon CO (Adult Album Alternative)
KAVV Benson AZ (Country)
KTPI Mojave CA (Country)
KBBX Nebraska City NE (Regional Mexican)

Crystal Lake, IL.....

97.7 is splatter from 97.5 WZOK from Rockford, IL (37 miles) and WCKL, 97.9, Chicago (40 miles). WZOK has a somewhat better signal here.
