Open warfare has erupted between star hosts at Infinity Sports WIP Philadelphia, as morning co-host Angelo Cataldi opened both barrels at afternoon host Howard Eskin and station management on Wednesday's show (6/1).
The Philadelphia Daily News' Dan Gross reports that Cataldi spent most of the show ripping Eskin, who he says has been badmouthing Cataldi's co-hosts Al Morganti and Rhea Hughes on Eskin's Saturday show.
On his web site (A HREF="http://www.angelocataldi.com">AngeloCataldi.com), currently sporting the large headline "Howard Sucks!," Cataldi says that "Howard Eskin is the most unprofessional person I've ever had to work with, and I've been at it for 34 years now. He has no respect for any of his co-workers, he has a vastly overrated work ethic, he trades his opinion to any athlete or coach who pays attention to him, and he is a gold-plated phony."
After explaining that Eskin's attacks on Hughes precipitated his blast, Cataldi writes that "I'm seething right now - seething over the unmitigated gall that someone has to rip a fellow worker who works harder and has more integrity, while the bosses at WIP stand by and twiddle their thumbs.... if it's war they want, it's war they'll get. Us against him. No holds barred."
Eskin has not responded to Cataldi's comments so far.
The rest of the nation can't hear the fireworks yet, but the station is scheduled to start streaming on the Net on June 21.
