FCC News for 1330 AM

It looks like they ( WWRV 1330 ) are moving, from sharing WNYM 970 towers to sharing WZRC 1480 towers.

Observation and a question here .....(I've been away from the scene)

The new daytime pattern plus the new nighttime pattern apparently gives them all of the populous Brooklyn rather than leaving that annoying little sandbagging dead spot near Coney Island. And somehow, they're poised to get that district for less 24/7 electricity. Not a bad deal if that new sales spot has been a sore one through the years.

Question: Is WWRV the stepchild of WPOW 1330, or WEVD 1330? Neither? Both?

Steve, Yes WPOW was on 1330..see the link for history of 1330 AM

dunno

So essentially, WWRV's biological call letters were WEVD, I guess?

WEVD's sticks on Newtown Creek were closer to where we DXed than
WPOW's were. And of course, they were much louder.

Out by us, near Kennedy Airport, was just on the cusp of the Atlantic
Ocean water path. And the writeup mentions that WPOW could have
some weird hours at times. A few late afternoons I'd hear WPOW
getting knocked around quite a bit there. Stations from places like
Massachusetts would be audible. One afternoon a station from Tasely
VA was really chewing 'em up. There'd also be some splash on occasion
from neighboring WMID Atlantic City and their R&R on 1340.

So anway, if history is accurate, this would be at least the third xmtr
move for the now-WWRV. Are their towers along Newtown Creek
still standing, btw ?

Thanks for the article, MxRx !
