Polk Audio's Mistake

After reading the article, this jumped out at me:

“Originally slated for delivery last month, the launch of Polk Audio’s ambitious I-Sonic system has moved to March. The problem? Building a unit that receives analog and digital AM and FM broadcasts; plays DVDs, CDs and MP3 files; and is XM-ready proved more challenging than developers first thought. “There were problems integrating all of those elements into one unit,” says John Crisco, Polk Audio GM of original equipment manufacturing.”

In my humble opinion, I don’t “want” all that in one unit, and I can’t imagine many other people would, considering HD is new and hasn’t taken off yet. I just want an HD receiver. Polk could have done better by just focusing on HD itself, and add all those other bells and whistles at a later time.

What? No casette or 8-track capability? What about a built in turntable?

You're right. It sounds pretty dumb.<P ID="signature">______________

Sounds to me like they're trying to put all of their eggs in one basket with this one. Just an HD receiver would be plenty for me, maybe with analog AM/FM thrown in for good measure. But I think I may hold out a little longer for one with the built-in toaster oven and snow-blowing capabilities. If I'm going to spend the money, it may as well be on something useful, right?

Peace.

Let me know when they make one that plays Edison cylinders...
