Dana Hersey? Dead or Alive?

Thought I heard Dana Hersey's voice on WRKO today. Sounded like old intros that the station used years ago.

Didn't know Hersey was still alive. He must be in his 80's if alive.

Alive

He is definitely alive but I dont think he is in his 80s. 60s maybe, but not 80s.

Re: Alive

I remember my grandfather saying he heard Hersey on the radio in the 1940's.

Dana Hersey graduated from Emerson College in 1973. Assuming he was 22 at the time, that would make him 55.

Nah he's definately alive and he's not quite that old. One of the most disctinctive voices in the area, great set of pipes. Im amazed that he's still the king of non union type crap VO's...lol such a waste of the guy's talent he should concentrate get serious join aftra and sag and really make a go of it. I understand he's not worried though he has F you money. At one time I remember hearing that he was a part owner of WSBK Tv hence he hosted the movie loft FOREVER!!..

Brings back great memories

Wow now there's a name from the past.
Anyone else remember watching those highly entertaining Ask The Manager shows on TV 38 with Hersey and Bill Flynn??
Brings back so many great memories of a truly great era in Bosotm media.
That's when the Bruins ruled New England and Channel 38 was BOSS.
Larry Glick ruled overnights and Dave Maynard had his shows going strong on BZ.
Remember Cliff and Claf and Guy Mainella??
GREAT memories of a time we'll never see again in these parts.
Got a smile on my face recalling those years and those shows.
Thanks for the reminder AlanShore.

You did! You did hear his voice. I had read on this board that 'RKO had a "new voice" and the person liked him--well, it's most definitely Dana: "Anyone
who says talk is cheap has never had to sign Howie's paychecks. Howie
Carr, on WRKO..." etc/

80s? Don't think so.

I was gonna say, if he's in his 80's he looks DAMN good for it! About five or six years ago a company I used to work for hired him to do "hosting" on an in-house video media kit. He still had his signature voice and style in spades and I felt like I was 10 years old watching The Movie Loft on WSBK all the way down in Connecticut - years before we got cable in our neighborhood. My cheeks hurt from grinning all afternoon. :)

Unfortunately a lot of the techie stuff we were having him read was sailing way over his head, so it took about 50 takes. But damned if he wasn't the consummate professional about it, and damned if the final product wasn't a slick piece of work.

To hell with David Lee Roth, let's give DANA his own talk show every morning! After all, in a baseball town like Boston, wouldn't you like to rely on the DH? :)

Dana had really great chemistry with Joe Dimino (sp?) on Ask the Manager.
Those shows were hilarious.
