Could Toledo support another AC station?

To go against 101.5 The River? The River has its place into the market and has for a long time but could a new upstart to give them a run for their money? Would there be enough revenue to go around?

I guess it would be possible, but not very likely. We moved to Toledo 5 years ago, right before I got my first satellite radio. FM radio in Toledo leaves a LOT to be desired. Anything would be an improvement.

AM stations in Toledo also leave a lot to be desired. WLQR 1470(the old WOHO) has a small nighttime signal while sister WTOD (supposedly 5kw but operates with 500 w due to damage at the site) is daytime-only and no low power. CC has a lock on Toledo with WSPD and WCWA

Outside of that its urban WNWT in Rossford, Bowling Green( a lip service COL) has WRQN-FM, with oldies, then fundementalist WJYM (transmitting from Lime City near Perrysburg owned by Jimmy Swaggert) and the rest are surburbam FMs from Oak Harbor,Clyde,Sandusky and out of range FMs from Bryan,Napoleon and Swanton.

Detroit stations still rule over Toledo today.

If one uses the ratings as a measuring tool, Detroit does not rule over Toledo. None of the Detroit FMs have city grade coverage, hence no competitive ratings presence. Just because you can pick them up on a car radio does not mean you can hear them on a cheap table radio in an office building or south of downtown. Only WJR has any ratings presence in Toledo, and, even with better night coverage than the 5kw on 1370, they never get close to WSPD (much to Mayor Finkbeiner's chagrin).

Qualitatively, you may have a point. But, as Michael Savage would say, it's a "fact of reality"...Toledo listeners, for the most part, use Toledo radio stations.

WNWT-AM 1520 Toledo/Rossford is a news/talk/sports format operated by Matrix Broadcasting. It's 500watt/daytime and 400watts/night. Matrix LMA's WNKL/96.3 to EMF for bookoo $$$ and also has WMNT-TV (My Network), channel 58 on Buckeye Cablesystem.

Detroit stations rule over Toledo? The only one with numbers in the Toledo TSA is WJR due to it's 50kw signal. And it rarely gets more than 1.8-2.0 12 plus.

WWJ is pretty clear too & a veteran station+ Tower 98, Monroe giving Toledo CHR a run for the money.
