Coalinga 97.3 - A downgrade to Class A

Nelson Gómez (of LaFavorita Radio Networks) won the Coalinga Channel 247 (97.3) allocation in Auction 109 for $45,000. The longform paperwork was posted today and is quite a shocker. The proposed station is a downgrade to a Class A (6kw) with a 30 meter antenna on the southside of Coalinga.

The auction allocation called for a Class B1. but the B1 allocation point is about 5 miles from any power lines. (Admittedly, the original allocation many years ago had the station near I-5 also as a Class A so Gómez is just following tradition.)

I noticed that today Ondas de Vida was awarded a 500-watt ERP NCE Construction Permit for 90.3 in Coalinga, This will be on the same heavily-loaded cell tower on the southside if Coaljnga. Nelson Gomez's antenna wilk be at the 30M ekevation while OdV at the 22.5M mark. I am not sure how they'll cram in either array given the required spacing, OdV also willl employ a directional antenna so no diplexing here folks.
