I was surprised to hear longtime sportscaster Chuck Swirsky live on WSCR-670 this morning for the 12-5 a.m. overnight shift. This was the time slot held by Les Grobstein for many years before his passing in January 2022.
This won't be a regular thing, in part because Swirsky has other duties as the Chicago Bulls play-by-play announcer on WMVP, but he indicated that he would be doing this live broadcast again. There wasn't anything on the Score-Audacy sight about Swirsky, except that he was listed on the overnight schedule for Monday morning, but the rest of the week would be covered by CBS Sports Radio for that time period.
Maybe WSCR needed extra time beyond their normal live broadcast hours to handle all of the outrage and angst from callers following the Bears-Packers game.
