CHR Mid Year review!

As we near the midpoint of 2005, I was wondering if we went off of the last 6 months, what the top songs in the country would be?
I would think 50cent along with Rob Thomas, and Guen Stephony would be a part of the cream of the crop. Rank if you would like, if not continue to discuss!

I could guarantee that Blvd. Of Broken Dreams by Green Day will be #1.
______________

According to Mediabase, "Since U Been Gone" is the #1 song of the year thus far on CHR/Pop. No surprise, considering that the song hit CHR/Pop around the same time as "Boulevard" and is still going stronger than "Boulevard" which is #2. "1, 2 Step" is #3.

Kelly might lead now, but "hollaback girl" by Gwen will be # 1 for the entire year :)

Then kelly will come 2 and 3 w/ "since you've been gone" and "behind these hazel eyes"

I think you mean Gwen Stefani.

Anyway, some of the post below mentioned "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Hollaback Girl". Also, as noted below, "Since You Been Gone" it is the most played song on Mediabase-monitored CHR/pop stations so far this year. The last few years, songs that were big hits in the first part of the year usually are the most played, mainly because of being around longer as a current and recurrent.
______________

Is there anywhere that I can get the list of most played songs so far? Thanks.

No way!

Since You Been Gone is still testing very well on most stations. It'll be power recurrent all year. Hollaback Girl will be burnt out in a month or so. A lot of stations will rest it for a while.

The whole #1 for t he year is skewed. You can't go by spins on the year, or a song in the first thrid or half of the year would always win. I've always said take the 20 highest weeks and add those spins together. A song could be #1 for the last 8 weeks of the year and still not be in the top 20 for the whole year.

Top 20 CHR/Pop Airplay PEAKS -

#1 - Hollaback Girl (more than 39000 spins in May!!!)
#2 - Since U Been Gone
#3 - Let Me Love You
#4 - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
#5 - 1, 2 Step
#6 - Caught Up
#7 - We Belong Together
#8 - Rich Girl
#9 - Over And Over
#10 - Obsession
#11 - Let Me Go
#12 - Behind These Hazel Eyes
#13 - Karma
#14 - Soldier
#15 - Switch
#16 - Mockingbird
#17 - Don't Phunk With My Heart
#18 - Beautiful Soul
#19 - Sugar
#20 - Goin' Crazy

I think peaks are more fair than airplay, because if every song was released at a different time, it would be unfair because it would have any chance in earlier months.
Edited by spongebag7 on 06/29/05 03:54 AM.

50 Cent's new one "Outta Control" will be in the top 5, it's already blowing up, and it'll probably be #1 for weeks, like "In Da Club" was in 2003.

No.

But with a debut at #88...what else is it gonna do?
