I've been listening to ChickenMan on XM satellite channel 151. Anybody remember it from the 60's? Love the absurdity of it all..

Back in the 1980's, WAMS in Wilmington, Delaware was re-airing the series and it was just as funny in it's absurd way as it was back when I heard it the first time in the 60's. I'm surprised that terrestial radio doesn't still air it today. The other one that was popular back then was "The Toothfairy". It was produced by the same people as you'd hear many of the sames voices and it was just as absurd.

From Dick Orkin, in the years before the Radio Ranch, I believe.

Speaking of Orkin, I havent heard any new national spots since the infamous, and hysterically funny "Fat Bastard" wine campaign....

If you are interested Dan O'Day sells the complete "Chickenman" series (all 200 + episodes) for your listening not broadcast pleasure at http://www.danoday.com/
The episode where he gets the chicken suit and not the rabbit suit at the costume store to fight "ee VIL" is on the site for listening. Hilarious.
Here in Rochester Dick Orkin does spots for rochesterhelpwanted.com in his usual manner. The best one is about going to Russia for a Marketing VP job at a caviar company that advertised on Monster.com (although unnamed) and since that job was gone when he arrived was offered a job as "fish squeezer" with appropriate sounds to go along with it. He's still got it.

I somehow recall some tie-in with McDonalds in the early 80s when Chickenman was revived...I think it was to introduce a chicken sandwich. I heard it on a couple stations & it was always sponsored by McD's.

I met Orkin at a NAB convention in Boston.

He's an awfully nice guy and his talent is beyond compare.

"ChickenMan" got lots of airplay on Armed Forces Radio in Vietnam.

A "Best of" disc was released on Atco/Atlantic years ago.

I must agree with the first poster that the series still sounds fresh and I'm at a loss as to why more stations aren't airing it today.

Another series (released to coincide with the Bicentennial) was the "Masked Minuteman"

Visit his site when you have time. Love his work!

I just wish they'd release "The Adventures of the Tooth Fairy." KOY, Phoenix, played an hour of it during a station anniversary week years ago, and its even funnier than the Winged Warrior. Miss Helfinger became Nurse Durkin, the Police Commissioner became Dr. Armadingo (dentist) and Benton Harbor (Chickenman) became Newton Snookers (the Tooth Fairy).

Nurse Durkin is more exasperated than Miss Helfinger and gets off some beautiful lines.

Nurse Durkin (to TF): Lower your voice! Do you see those people over there? Why do you think they're holding their faces?

TF: Probably because something hurts in and around their mouth.

Nurse (threatningly): How'd you like to have something hurt in and around your mouth?

Re: The Molar Maraurder - The Tooth Fairy

When I had a show on AFRN (American Force Radio Network) 1490 Eielson AFB, Alaska (back in 1972-73) I aired a daily installment of the Molar Maraurder, aka the Porcelin Crusder, aka the Tooth Fairy. It was a popular feature, well produced, and was very funny.

ChickenMan! now those were the days! I listened to this on
WKLO radio 1080 in Louisville, KY which was one of the big
top-40 stations in the area. I remember this out of the mid to
late 1960s.

Eerything said on this "ancient" thread about Chickenman" is true; it's hilarious; unfortunately the merged SXM satellite monopoly has dropped Chickenman, I haven't heard it since late November or December; I would love to be proved wrong and have someone tell me it's still on SXM!!

I used to listen to it on channel 6 as well as 151; I did an XM website search last week for Chickenman and came up with no matches/results. :(
